When a person takes hallucinogens (such as lsd/acid, pcp/angel dust, psilocybin mushroom/'shrooms, ecstasy which is both a hallucinogen and amphetamine), the symptoms caused by those psychedelic drugs mimic severe mental illness including Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. Taking those types of drugs may certainly bring on mental illness that was dormant or worsen the person's mental health issues.

Regarding the mood disorder known as Bipolar disorder, which used to be referred to as "Manic Depression", here is a site for more information - Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance: http://www.dbsalliance.org

This government site has more information about Bipolar disorder, too: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/bipolar-disorder/complete-index.shtml

On a slightly different note, please also do NOT inhale any types of fumes or chemical vapors also known as "huffing". My friend has a Traumatic BRAIN INJURY (TBI) and other permanent damage from inhalant use at the age of 12, now in her 30s. Other risks of huffing include sight loss/blindness, heart/liver/kidney damage, seizures, limb spasms, hearing loss and even death, all of which can happen after the very FIRST time of use. For more information on the dangers of huffing - National Inhalant Prevention Coalition: http://www.inhalants.org

It might well put the person into a permanent state of delusion. Sometimes aspects of Bipolar can produce delusions as it is, LSD could be enough of a trigger to place the person permanently in that state. I would not recommend this as an attempt to treat bipolar disorder.

Since bipolar people can enter mental states where they feel like a 'God', i can only imagine LSD would make things more complicated. Probably should avoid. God was bipolar I believe.

In my experience no it will not. It has been nothing but a good thing in my life. LSD is amazingly beautiful.
