Are there any happy pharmacists?

If you know someone in pharmacy or are a pharmacist, do any of them seem happy with their career? I was considering pharmacy as my career choice because it seemed to fit me. I researched the career for hours and found that many pharmacists hate their jobs. Maybe it's because it's only the ones who hate the job that rant to the computer, but I'm really doubtful! Can anyone tell me about a happy pharmacist? I'm trying to regain my interest for this career so someone tell me how it's not miserable.

There are happy Pharmacists! I'm a Pharmacy student and enjoy my job and my boss loves it. You hear a lot about unhappy people in the Profession but that's because working retail can be very stressful. Customers/ Patients assume it takes 2 seconds to fill a prescription (it doesn't) and that we just fill pill bottles (and don't know about checking for life saving interactions). But there are some great moments in Pharmacy. You can have a great impact on people though. I've had good moments in retail. Also, There are so many types of Pharmacists. You should shadow a clinical Pharmacist who works in a hospital. They Round with Doctors and Nurses, dose antibiotics and Warfarin (a blood thinner), and check for drug interactions. Check it out for yourself. There will always be people who hate their job and want to complain about it no matter what profession they're in.

With minimal investment of time/money you can get a pharmacy technician license, the pay is not much more than minimal wage, but you can learn much about pharmacy practice and drugs.

Now it requires a 6 year degree to become a pharmacist, there is always daylong standing, people (especially the pharmacy technicians) are always trying to steal drugs, the doctors prescribe meds that should not even be on the shelf from an FDA that puts company profits ahead of public health.

There are zillion pharmacy related laws, they can fine or jail the hell out of you if they want, while at the same time your kids are getting e-mails for online purchases of controlled drugs, that somehow the government cannot shut down. You can even point it out to the government and its nothing, Why? Its because the crooked drug companies have them in their back pocket.

Consider a Health Science major, it takes 4 years, when your done you can either go into a medical/dental/vet school or a physicians assistant (2 year) program.

If you know enough physics to build a time machine that goes back into time, then maybe pharmacy in the 1950's would be the place for you.

Pharmacy is a very rewarding career. A lot depends on where you work. I did not like working in a retail pharmacy and dealing with the public which requires a certain personality, which I did not have. Working in mail order was much less stressful but also very boring. The pay is very good, so if you are looking for a good career I would recommend pharmacy.

every one is telling that pharmacy is good course and are happy bla!bla!bla!

I sincerely suggest you don't be a pharmacist. My servent who is illiterate and earning Rs.15000/- per month working in 5 houses and me the same person completed my pharm-D don't have any job yet.And most of the companies asking me whether I'm d-pharm or pharm-d and they say that they need only bsc candidates for jobs. These pharmaceutical companies earning thousand's of crores and not providing single job to a pharmacist.I dreamed of having an office life after completing my course but this bullshit course ruined my life and I spent Rs.8.95 lacs for this ******* pharmacy course and I have been unemployed.

When I went to interview the HR bribed me 1.5 lacs cash for job that fetches me Rs.12000 per month.

And I attended many conferences and acquired more training certificates for extra qualification for this ******* QC job.

Its better to be a server in restaurant then been a pharmacist!

I hate pharmacy field and I wil blast all the pharmacy colleges

Yes, definitely. My own local pharmacist, my parents' pharmacist, and a pharmacy lecturer at my university who works in a pharmacy part-time all love their jobs.

I know of more content and pleasant pharmacists than dissatisfied, and miserable, although there are both in the profession, as there are in any profession.

The profession that I know of that burns out quickly is ER medicine. The needy and emotionally maladjusted population base that comprise their patients, wear on the nerves....

We have a family friend who's a pharmacist and he's a very, very pleasant man. However, my boyfriends brother has just completed pharmacy school and he's a prick. So, I guess it depends.

Walgreens burned their butt with opiates and got fined and now make the patients pay by treating them like drug addicts or drug dealers....I go 10 s out of my way pat them to a pharmacy that treats people like patients.I know they all hate their jobs and I don't care.
