Absoutly.
Within biological terms, i supose the answer above would fit. However to use the coined phrase and use it within the context of this section, ie medicine, then one would assume that not everyone within the field of medicine will know what their counterparts will be doing. One may wish to know, and one may order to know, but to pass an action off to someone else to complete puts 'trust' within that other person, and if that person is indeed not trustworthy the job may not be done to the standards or acceptance of the giver, thus making one unsure of the job being done in the first place.
To use the literal sense of the phrase, it is possible for you to not know what your left hand is doing, especially if you are blind, have no feeling within your arms, and are unsure of what exactly you are controlling.
But, those are just my opinions :)

Yes it is absolutely possible. The comment regarding neurons registering what your hand is doing is partly correct and partly incorrect. In a completely literal sense, your brain never 'knows' anything, it simply passes electrical and chemical pulses between neurons and nerve cells, etc. so in one respect the post regarding your brain 'knowing' is correct. However, there are many instances when this communication can be obstructed or somehow interupted where communication between nerve cells, neurons, and ultimately your conciousness can be confused or interupted. There are known syndromes where one arm/hand will be attempting to perform a concious task while the other arm/hand will perform that opposite task. This can be quite frustrating, for example, when you try to unbutton your shirt with your right hand, your left hand will pry your right hand off of the button. I think it should be relatively easy to find these syndromes online if you're interested.

Only if we're talking about the right and left hands of the government(Republican and Democratic Poitical parties.) In biological terms, your brain always knows what your hands are doing because of the neurons in your skin cells. The whole right brain, left brain thing doesn't matter.

Yes, b/c your right hand is controlled by the left side of your brain and you left is controlled by the right side.
